Jim Price is an experienced business and corporate attorney with a special focus on contract drafting, review, negotiation and related matters. He has broad experience in start-up, high-growth and entrepreneurial environments.
Jim has been General Counsel and Chief Information Officer for a group of telecommunication companies for over 20 years. He has been an integral member of, and advisor to, the executive management teams of these organizations, and has handled all legal and IT related aspects of their business.
Jim graduated from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill with a B.S. in Business Administration. He received his Juris Doctor from the UNC Chapel Hill School of Law. After law school, Jim entered private practice where he focused on business/corporate law, commercial and civil litigation, and personal injury/medical malpractice litigation. Over the next 8 years, Jim represented and advised numerous businesses in varying stages of development, served as lead counsel, prepared multiple cases for trial, took and defended many depositions, prepared dispositive motions, mediated cases, and counseled a wide variety of clients on diverse matters.
In 1998 Jim became General Counsel and CIO for an organization specializing in marketing and providing complex telecommunication services. As GC, Jim was responsible for all legal matters throughout the organization including creating, reviewing and negotiating complex contracts with large telecom carriers and associated vendors, handling labor and employment matters, regulatory compliance, healthcare, outsourcing, dispute resolution and managing outside litigation teams. As CIO, Jim was responsible for all technology matters throughout the organization and management/supervision of the IT development team.
In additional to his legal career, Jim is a founding member on the Executive Boards for Javesca, LLC (www.javesca.com) and Javesca Feeds (www.javescafeeds.org) – affiliated charitable organizations whose mission is to raise funds and facilitate the feeding of starving people in the US and abroad. He is also the founder and owner of HyperNotice.com – a group messaging service. Jim is a member of MENSA, an Eagle Scout, has multiple black belts in various styles of martial arts, and enjoys riding motorcycles, scuba diving and travel with his family in his personal time.
